The female team of Marina Kopteva, Anna Yasinskaya (both of Ukraine) and Galina Chibitok (Russia) was awarded on Dec. 3rd by 2011 Russia Piolet d'or.
The three women established this summer a new route on Great Trango Tower (6,286 meters) in the Baltoro region of the Karakorum.
Parallel World is the name of the new line, VI+ AC 2580m
The trio spent 38 days on the wall, starting on July 22th, topping on August 25th and returning at Bc on Aug.29th. The route is parallel to the route of Alexander Lavrinenko, Vladimir Mogila, Vitaly Yarechevsky and Alexey Zhilin established on 2003.
In August 2010, the same team succeeded in climbing the western wall of Amin Brakk (5850m) for the Czech express route (7b + 5.12c A3-A4 70 degrees) first ascended from Filip Silhan , Marek Holecek and David Stastny in September 1999.
Marina Kopteva, leader of the expedition was born in 1981 and lives in Kiev.
In 2005 she was CIS mountaineering champion and in 2009 was awarded with the Steel Angel ,a special award for women climbers.
Anna Yasinskaya is born in 1981 and lives in Kiev: also she was awarded the Steel Angel. The two Ukrainian form a well experienced team and has already ascended together very difficult routes.
Galina Chibitok lives in St. Petersburg and was twice champion of Russia.
