The Boccalatte-Piolti hut is open
Franco Perlotto revives the refuge after years of closure18 July 2016
After years of closure, Franco Perlotto, in cooperation with CAI Torino, restored and reopened Rifugio Boccalatte-Piolti on the italian side of Mont Blanc.
The hut, built at 2803m and dedicated to Gabriele Boccalatte e Mario Piolti died in 1938 on Aiguille de Triolet, stands on a remote rocky island between the Planpincieux and the Grandes Jorassess glaciers – place that has been noticed for the first time in 1865 by Edward Whymper who, with his guides, was trying to reach the summit of the Grandes Jorasses.
Here is the video about this opening.
