Iker and Eneko Pou, the rock climbers from Vitoria, Spain, have created their own digital magazine to recount their adventures in the mountains, taking their social communications to another level. The magazine, entitled "BE FREE" (here), is a declaration of their intention to always "free climb" the routes they choose. The publication will be released on a quarterly basis and will be accessible and downloadable for free.
With this new project, the Pou brothers hope to increase their following and provide more detailed accounts of their expeditions and climbs, but in an innovative way. There are three characteristics which define this quarterly magazine, which will be published in English and Spanish- innovation, interactivity, and participation.
Being fully aware of the importance of new technologies, the athletes have chosen a digital format which combines the timeless elements of the printed magazine with the modern elements of images, animations, and video. They are the first climbers to launch their own magazine. We would encourage you to have a look at it, taking full advantage of its format. It is compatible with computers, tablets, and mobiles.
The content will focus on the Pou Brothers' projects, as well as those of their friends. It will feature complete articles, technical advice, destination guides, comic strips and more. As Iker Pou explains: "The most important thing is that these pages convey the great passion we feel for the great outdoors and for mountains. By transmitting our passion, we will set yours alight."
Eneko Pou concludes that "BE FREE, HERMANOS POU magazine, edited by MC Projects, will be a lot of work, but we believe it will be worth the effort. We only hope that readers will like it. We would like to that you in advance for being there, because you, with all the support you give us, are also a part of the Pou Brothers."
