23 Jan Icefalls in Champorcher Valley – Val d’Aosta – Italy
Good conditions in Champorcher Valley: well formed and often repeated both I candeloni di Giavin (4/4+ the one on the left; 5/5+ the one on the right ) in De La Legne valley.
Well formed as well, the two easy icefalls located before the "candeloni"
Note the new icefall near the main street of the valley, that you can see on the oroghraphic right side near Pontboset, first ascended by Giampiero Bertotti, Stefano dalla Gasperina, Enrico Bonino and Maria Sofia Palmisano on 2010 January 15th.
Not easily formed, Zero 70 is 100 m II/5/5+ 3 pitches; bolted belay and tree.
Could be hepful a cam (0.5/0-75 Camalot) to protect the start of the last pitch.
From highway Aosta-Torino exit Pont Saint Martin, follow Valle di Champorcher up to the village Trambesere (Pontboset) where you can see the icefall on the opposite site of the valley. Then cross the bridge and on sight in 15\20 minutes to the icefall.
