Ice – Fournel - Up-Climbing

Ice – Fournel

Seems that the warm temperatures that  stayed for more than a week along the Alps are now returning to the normal average of the saison.
In  the Valley of Fournel, in the Ecrins park, west of the Argentière la Bessée Briançons – France, the international gathering of ICE 2011 (originally known as the Internationaux de la Cascade de Glace,) is over and now.. back to climb the icefalls

The road is open to the parking lotof La Salce, but are recommended chains or snow tires. The space for cars parked in the ‘special area” is fairly small.

Along the valley there is a great track, but to reach the icefalls  are recommended snowshoes or skis. In the south-facing slope many lines are no longer in good conditions, on the other hand the snow seems to have settled down enough. Not there two highlights of the site as Double Scotch and Baiser de Lune. Here is a photo report date.
