WILD COUNTRY Zero Friends: a series of fast protections designed for narrow cracks, available from size 0.1 to 0.75

Friends are the most representative and iconic type of Wild Country protection, created by the English brand more than 40 years ago. In view of next year, Wild Country launches a series of fast protections with the name Zero Friends, designed for narrow cracks and consequently available from the 0.1 to 0.75 size.

For this new version of the historic Wild Country Zero Friends the cam angle has been changed: no longer 13.75 ° but the new constant angle of 17.6 ° has emerged as a perfect inclination for narrow placements as it allows a larger range also on the measurements very small. The constant angle also ensures a distribution of forces regardless of the friend’s degree of openness.

So much attention has been paid to building a friend with a particularly narrow head: the 0.1 and 0.2 sizes have the cam head of only 27.9 mm, while the larger ones are only 29.2 mm.

The Zero Friend stem has a sturdy steel cable enclosed in a metal spring that protects it. A design that allows precise positioning of the friend with minimal flexibility, and at the same time it folds effectively and easily during the downward pulling phase. The thumb ring is an additional element in order not to lose the tool or help the climbers to face, for example, an artificial passage. Dyneema double slinging is practical, saving material, time and weight.
