Emily Harrington, bad accident with no (many) consequences

Ruinous fall on El Capitan but it could have been worse

26 November 2019
Bad incident but fortunately not serious for the strong American champion Emily Harrington who lived bad times in Yosemite.

Ruinous fall on El Capitan for Emily Harrington, strong American climber who, abandoned the world of competitions, is successfully dedicating to multipitch and big walls around the world. While working on her historic Golden Gate project, Harrington has fallen and only luck has meant that this not really dangerous pit to say the least. "I was climbing when I flew and a bolt didn't hold. The rope, I don't know how, made a strange turn and rubbed my neck ripping it apart.” Unique dynamics but that could end really bad for her. Immediate rescue operations started, which fortunately in Yosemite are generally structured and fast, and was soon hospitalized.

Opened by brothers Alex and Thomas Huber in 2000, Golden Gate is certainly not new for Emilie. In 2015 she climbed all the pitches and now with Adrian Ballinger, he had the goal of solving all the lengths first, a project still to be postponed.
