Matteo Della Bordella and Luca Schiera open a new route in Patagonia
On the top of Cerro Pollone30 January 2018
Matteo Della Bordella and Luca Schiera, both alpinists of Ragni di Lecco, opened a new route on Cerro Pollone in Patagonia. Like usual during last expeditions of this group, also Luca and Matteo used as less as possible, abandoning just one nut and two pitons on the wall. This side of Cerro Pollone has not any other route except one route opened in 1999 by Jim Donini and Gregory Crouch and used in part also by Scott Bennett and Blake Herrington some years later.
Last night Luca sent this messagge: "The weather was not good enough for the climb we had in mind so yesterday we climbed the northern part of Pollone in 9 hours. The wind never gave up for a moment and at the end it was too strong to allow us to go down from the north. We decided to get off the other side and then, walking all night, we came back to El Chalten ".
More info will come.
