Vibram is excited to announce the new Climbing Team Vibram, the first team of athletes in the climbing world that will represent the company globally.
Versatility, experience and enthusiasm so Vibram describes the six athletes who will represent the company's values: Barbara Zangerl, Eva Hammelmüller, Jernej Kruder, Fanny Gibert, Nicolò Balducci and Jorg Verhoeven, from Austria, Slovenia, France, Italy and Holland, specialists in the various disciplines united by a generous dose of enthusiasm and determination.
Born in 1988, the Austrian Barbara Zangerl joins the Vibram team bringing all her experience and skill resulting from her adventures on the great walls and expeditions lived all over the world.
Babsi, as she is known in the environment, falls in love with the discipline at the age of 14 at her first experience in the gym together with her brother. After putting herself to the test on rock, she discovers what will become her great passion. In his palmares he boasts three important free ascents on El Capitan (El Nino, Zodiac, Magic Mushroom) in Yosemite; the first free ascent of Odyssee on the Eiger (33 pitches, 8A +), several sport climbs up to the 9th and the recent title of Adventurer of the Year 2019 by National Geographic. Babsi loves to experiment with different climbing styles, always looking for new ways to explore and challenges to face. Among his future goals are the free ascent of The Nose (5.14) on El Capitan and an expedition to Madagascar. In everyday life Babsi alternates his career as a climber with his job as assistant radiologist.
Born in Slovenia in 1990, Jernej Kruder is among the most active climbers of the moment: winner of the Bouldering World Cup 2018, the first repeater of Es Pontas, famous deep water route only on the arch of Mallorca. As a child, Jernej approaches the world of climbing with his sisters, and soon after joins international competitions. Jernej is a multifaceted climber who likes to try his hand at different specialties including trad, deep water soloing, sport climbing and multi-pitch climbing. Among the next objectives of Jernej the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and the conquest of new routes.
Fanny Gibert, French born in 1993 and university student at the faculty of mechanical engineering, grew up on the island of Reunion where she started climbing, dedicating herself particularly to bouldering. Winner of the French bouldering championship three times, she won the third step of the Bouldering World Cup podium in 2018. Her goal for the future is to participate in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Eva Hammelmüller, a young Austrian woman from Innsbruck in 2000, is an enthusiastic climber who has already twice graduated from the European Youth Lead and Combined Champion. Already nine times on the highest step of the podium in the Austrian youth championships (lead, boulder and combined) and fourth at the 2016 world bouldering youth championships, Eva is a promise of the Austrian national team. Always looking for new challenges in which to try, he has several routes up to 8C. Among the future projects, take part in international competitions in the senior category and increasingly improve the level thanks to his determination and determination.
Nicolò Balducci, the youngest of the team with his 16 years, lives in close contact with the Alps and practices climbing since he was a child. A fanatic of climbing, when not focused on competitions, he prefers trad climbing into a slit, a specialty in which he achieved excellent results such as the repetition of Gondo Crack (8C) and Lapoterapia (8C). Nicolò in his, although brief but already interesting sporting career, has climbed up to 8B of boulder and repeated prestigious sport climbing routes. Italian champion difficulty and sixth place in the World Youth Championships difficulty. Among his aspirations, the conquest of the legendary via Coup de Grace (9a) in Val Bavone, Switzerland.
The veteran of the group, will be the Dutch Jorg Verhoeven (born in 1985) to act as team captain. With a degree in chemistry and physics, he boasts an important experience in climbing, with over 15 years of attendance at international competitions. Adventurous and enthusiastic practice every type of climbing specialty, continuing to improve and achieving increasingly important goals. His achievements include the victory of the 2008 World Championships (lead and combined) and the more than 25 podiums (lead and bouldering) always in international competitions. His most significant achievements include The Nose (5.14), Dihedral Wall (5.14), Brento Centro (8b), in addition to sport climbing routes up to the 9th grade and bouldering at 8C.
