The Trentino brand forms the first team dedicated to endurance races with an international rose of athletes
Known for its technical footwear for mountain running and already holder of the Mountain Running® brand, registered in the early 2000s to the origins of the trail running movement, La Sportiva presents the first international Ultra Running Team.
In fact, if the "king" of the discipline Anton Krupicka had already confirmed the corporate commitment for this discipline with his return to the yellow / black colors in 2016 (a video in Virtual Reality dedicated to the American is out in August), 2018 sees in fact the debut for the Trentino brand of a large team of high-level athletes involved in the endurance world. Always recognized in the competitions for its footwear dedicated to the most mountainous disciplines of the Trail Running as Skyrace and Vertical Kilometer, La Sportiva has for some time introduced in its collection several high-end products specifically dedicated to the Ultra Trail world as Akasha, Ultra Raptor and Akyra.
Scrolling the names that are part of the team rose stand out those of the French Sacha Devillaz, twenty-nine from the great palmares and fond of ultra-distances. It appears on the international scene in 2014 with a twelfth place at 80km du Mont Blanc and the following year wins a 4th place at the CCC. Among his best results the victory for two years in a row at the Salomon Goretex Maxxi race (2017 and 2018) and always in 2017, winner of the X-Alpine only of Verbier over a distance of 110 km with almost 9 thousand meters of positive difference in height. The 2018 has also seen him protagonist at the Lavaredo Ultra Trail.
The other great promise of the team is Roberto Mastrotto: 15th overall at LUT 2k18 in 14 hours and 10 '(120 km with almost 6000 d +) improving his record of 40 minutes compared to the previous year, and several other first illustrious places at 100eLode with a record time (9 hours and 48 '), another race already won in 2017, another first place at the 100 miles of Istria and a first place in his home race, Durona Trail. Among the next objectives Mastrotto is targeted by the UTMB in August and Oman ultra Trail (137km with quais 8000d +) at the end of November.
New entry of international caliber also the American Clare Gallagher who for the past three years plays in the first positions of the most famous ultra distance races in the world: winner of Leadville100 in 2016 (a competition that will be sponsored by La Sportiva in 2019) and the CCC in 2017. Even 2018 is already full of satisfactions: first in Sciacchetrail, eighth in Penyagolosa (85km / 4900d +) and gains a suffering and exciting ninth place at the LUT.
Spine of the team is also the South Tyrolean Christian Insam, a fixed presence for several years on the podiums of the toughest endurance races: first place at the Sky Run Dolomiti in 2015 (132km and almost 9,000 meters d +), fifth place in the same year Orobie Ultra Trail from 140km, in 2016 wins the Trail du Cro (110km) and retires from the Tor des Geants due to an injury a few miles from the end in second place. It is then third in 2017 at the Dolomiti Extreme (102km, 7000d +). Its 2018 starts with a second place at the Garda Trentino Trail (long version) and with an excellent sixth place at the Dolomiti Extreme Trail. 2018 will still see him at the Grand Trail of Courmayeur (105 km) and at the Ultra Tour of Monterosa.
Finally, the last entry into the Elisabetta Luchese team, which has just begun on the ultra-distance scene, takes home in 2018 a seventh position at the AIM Energy Trail, is third at the Duerocche Trail (48km) and second at 100eLode. It also cuts the milestone of the LUT as the sixth Italian woman in about 20 hours.
The Italian team Francesco Rigodanza, Georg Piazza, Anna Pedevilla, Francesca Pretto, Cristiana Follador and the German Johannes Hinterseer close the squad.
