Mammut publicizes its objectives for corporate social responsibility until 2023

Taking a further step towards a leading role in responsible manufacturing, Mammut has published its corporate social responsibility objectives for the next five years. The plan provides a clear vision on the successes and challenges related to the production of eco-sustainable clothing. Working on a five-year project until 2023, the outdoor company intends to significantly reduce the environmental impact of its collections and avoid the use of harmful substances in production and distribution chains. Furthermore, Mammut guarantees honest working conditions and sources responsible for the supply of animal derived materials.

The Mammut strategic plan represents a further consolidation of the brand's commitment to corporate responsibility. The objectives are global and ambitious: "As a Swiss company of high level in the outdoor world – comments Peter Hollenstein, CR Manager of the Mammut Sports Group AG – whose roots date back to 1862, we want to preserve what is worth keeping and improve what is still not perfect. The sustainability of our products and the control of production processes are an essential part of the quality standards of Mammut".

Mammut excludes substances harmful to the environment from the beginning of the production process, in order to protect the environment. Since 2011 Mammut is a bluesign partner, to date the most severe and global control system for consumers and for the protection of the environment in the textile industry. Since 2023 the company aims to use at least 95% of certified materials. Mammut is currently working to eliminate the use of PFC composite equipment within the same year; In the acquisition of materials of animal origin, Mammut attaches great importance to the certified animal protection and traceability standards. The company already uses certified or recycled padding (Standard Padding and RE:DOWN) in all products and, in the production and distribution phase, the Responsible Wool Standard (RWS) is also applied. The company aims for 2023 total coverage (100%) of the demand, with RWS certified wool. At the moment there is no specific standard for leather materials, but in this sector Mammut collaborates with carefully selected tanneries, which operate through strictly controlled processes, to produce high quality leather.

To further strengthen its environmental awareness, the company uses recycled materials in its processes, to the extent that they meet the stringent requirements in terms of quality, performance and functionality. For cotton products, most of the Mammut brand supplies derive from organic crops. By 2023, Mammut undertakes to derive 95% of its production materials from recycling and to use exclusively certified organic cotton. In 2008, to guarantee ethical production, Mammut was one of the first brands in the Outdoor world to join the Fair Wear Foundation (FWF), applying the most stringent standards on working conditions and garment production.
