Skyrunning from sea to sky

The Madeira Ultra SkyMarathon takes place on the island of Madeira, Portugal on June 4, starting at 6 am from the town of Santana. The race, 55 km long with 4000 m vertical climb, is part of the 2016 Skyrunner World Series.

The race track, steep and technical, runs from the sea to the mountains, including a via Ferrata section (grade II climbing expertise required) below Pico Ruivo, the island’s highest point at 1861 m. and traverses a Laurel forest which is a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Race records: Men 6h 09’ 56”. Women 7h 33’ 37”
