At ISPO 2018 SCARPA® and RECCO® present the new ski mountaineering boot with integrated rescue system08 January 2018
The new F1, the ski mountaineering model with the advanced rescue system capable of facilitating research in the event of an avalanche accident, will be presented in absolute preview at the Munich fair.
SCARPA and RECCO, a Swedish brand that develops and markets the rescue technology that can make avalanche victims findable, join forces in an important partnership and present at ISPO 2018 the brand new SCARPA® F1, the first ski mountaineering boot equipped with the RECCO® system.
Available from the Fall-Winter 18/19 season, the new F1 model of SCARPA® represents an evolution in terms of technology and performance, and is the result of the work of the Asolo research and development team in synergy with the company Swedish specialist in security.
«The new version of the F1 will be the first ski mountaineering boot on the market to have the integrated Recco localization system - said Marco Campagna, SCARPA Marketing Manager - We are very pleased to have finally started this collaboration with the prestigious Swedish company : safety is essential for SCARPA, from this moment we can provide our fans with a technology that minimizes the time spent searching for missing people and victims of avalanches».
F1 of SCARPA® Powered by RECCO® anticipates and successfully interprets the request for greater safety for those who practice ski mountaineering: an important step forward for SCARPA and, more generally, for fans of this discipline, who will have further support available in terms of safety in order to practice sport.
The new boot integrates a RECCO reflector able to make the missing persons traceable. The technology works through a detector, used by rescue forces, and a reflector, integrated into individual sports equipment
The detector is used by professional rescuers to identify the reflector, worn by the skier. Inserted directly into the boot, the RECCO reflector does not require battery, ignition or maintenance, and is always sensitive and responsive to the harmonic radar of the detector.
«We are proud of our partnership with a leading brand like SCARPA, with whom we can offer the first model of ski mountaineering boots with Recco reflectors — comments Johan Sauer, Vice President of RECCO — This collaboration underscores Scarpa's commitment to safety On the other hand, it supports our efforts to further expand the fields of application of the Recco system. The work with Scarpa will give a decisive boost to safety standards, facilitating the discovery of more and more people involved in off-piste skiing and ski mountaineering».
