Swatch Freeride World Tour: 2017 appointments
Five stages, starting January 28, for the tenth edition - in Europe and the United States28 October 2016
The Swatch Freeride World Tour reaches the double digit! The tenth anniversary edition has just been presented - a five-legged tour of legendary locations - the best of Freeride's best, on a trip between Europe and the United States, from European superclasses to the remote Alaskan peaks - with a rooster of exception.
Here's the calendar:
January 28, 2017 - Chamonix Mont-Blanc, France - Winter arrives
Between the sharp spikes and the White massive, extreme and immaculate slopes for the first powder of season.
February 11, 2017 - Vallnord-Arcaliss, Andorra - Do not give up!
The capital of the Pyrenean freeride, set between France and Spain, for descents that require creativity and technical innovation capabilities.
March 6, 2017 - Fieberbrunn, Austria - When the game is tough ...
At this stage the contenders will be skimmed off: only the best freeriders will leave at the next stage.
18 Marxo 2017 - Haines, Alaska - Destination paradise
The Alaska is a crazy place: vast, remote, impressive, with a staggering array of incredible lines. And for those who pass this test, the final one.
1 April 2017 - Verbier, Switzerland - Grand Final
And where, if not?
The wall of the Bec des Rosses is absolutely a must for all freeriders - and those who will do it will best be crowned champion.
Race athletes are simply the best of this discipline - and the tour will leave the right place for both snowboarding and skiing.
Champions of past editions will add freeriders (and freeriders!) From qualifications, for a formula that aims to widen the challenge of the challenger, with a mechanism that will reward the steadiness of qualifying results.
Among the protagonists and protagonists we will find:
Snowboard - Women
Anne-Flore Marxer will seek to win the world title at Elodie Mouthon's expense. Keeping an eye on Shanna Yates, who returns on the slopes to defend, thanks to the experience, from new talents such as Audrey Hebert and Manuela Mandi.
Ski - Women
Is the moment of a generational change coming?
Champion champions like Eva Walkner and Jackie Paaso will have to look at the new arrivals, fresh qualifications, such as Elisabeth Gerritzen, Kylie Sivell and our Arianna Tricomi.
Snowboard - Men
The Americans have recently made it their masters - but Ralph Backstrom and Sammy Luebke will have to look at the formidable Europeans Thomas Feuerstein and Camille Armand in the royal star.
Skiing - Men
Logan Pehota will confirm his ascent? Last year was penned by Loic Collomb-Patton on the podium as the winner of the Freeride World Tour.
A new generation of freeriders, such as Carl Renvall and Sam Lee, will give a twist to these great champions.
