29 May Seb Bouin climbs Chilam Balam
80 meters, 400 movements; a monster. Since his riveting, in 2003, at the hands of Bernabe Fernandez, there was much discussion about the grade. 9b+? Possible? At the time it was fiction and in fact have had to wait eight years before King Adam Ondra turned it into the first climb: 9b. A journey into the future.
After years of efforts, now also the French Seb Bouin wrote his name in the list of climbers from this grade, making the third ascent of Chilam Balam, in Villanueva del Rosario. With him climbers like Chris Sharma and Adam Ondra obviously but also Sachi Amma and Jakob Schubert (Flight or Fight, Oliana) and Ethan Pringle (Jumbo Love, Clark Mountain).
In 2013, Seb had done the first part of Chilam, which in itself is worth 8c+.
